Inside a Heart Attack: How Awareness and Timely Intervention Can Make all the Difference

October 30, 2025

Every 40 seconds, someone in the United States suffers a heart attack. Globally, cardiovascular diseases remain the leading cause of death, presenting ever-evolving healthcare challenges.

At Viatris, we have a deep and wide legacy rooted in addressing these challenges—from prevention and risk management to the treatment of complex cardiovascular conditions. Our commitment goes beyond developing, making and distributing high-quality medicines. We recognize that preventing cardiovascular diseases requires more than just access to treatment—education and awareness is key. That’s why we work to ensure people around the world have the tools and knowledge they need for early detection and proactive heart health management.

One example of this commitment is our new film, Inside a Heart Attack, produced by BBC StoryWorks as part of the series Beats of Change, presented by the World Heart Federation. The film follows Michael and his family’s journey through the critical moments of a heart attack—from the first symptoms to diagnosis, the emotional toll on loved ones and the life-saving importance of acting fast. It serves as a powerful reminder of how awareness and timely intervention can make all the difference—sometimes between life and death.

Our efforts to spread awareness and advance cardiovascular outcomes does not stop there. We partner with academic institutions, patient groups, industry partners, healthcare professionals and others, in an effort to increase understanding of and access to care and to improve the treatment pathway.

Enhancing care means more than providing access to a broad portfolio of innovative and generic medicines. It requires education, outreach and collaboration to create a lasting impact. Through our pipeline, portfolio and educational initiatives, Viatris continues to play a vital role in reducing the global burden of cardiovascular disease and empowering people worldwide to live healthier at every stage of life.
