Viatris Inc. published its 2023 Sustainability Report: Building Sustainable Access at Scale. The report highlights its actions and initiatives across multiple areas of focus in support of the Company's efforts to continue to be a model for sustainable access to medicine and to make a difference in the communities it serves.
Viatris has released our 2022 Sustainability Report, featuring stories of our impact around the world that demonstrate our belief that access is incredibly personal and fundamental to our mission. Everyone at Viatris contributes to the work we do to address key environmental, social and governance matters, recognizing that our actions affect the stakeholders and communities we serve. Together, our colleagues helped provide approximately 1 billion patients worldwide with medicines last year.
Health equity is a critical global issue that can affect every facet of healthcare. In this new study, researchers explore how health inequities have led to low rates of cancer screening in certain populations, such as low-income and ethnic minority groups and how different interventions to address these gaps to date have been developed with mixed results because their development occurred without collaboration from the people they target. Read as this paper explores the viewpoints of patients, survivors, advocates and others on cancer screening interventions.
In this new report, we provide an updated status on noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in the COVID-19 pandemic setting based on scientific evidence from multiple leading global health agencies. The report explores the recent trends in major NCDs across regions and makes a strong call-to-action for all stakeholders to join hands and work toward creating and implementing effective and localized solutions to relieve the burden of NCDs and invest in building resilient health systems worldwide.
We believe that everyone deserves to live a healthy life. With only about half of the global population able to receive essential health services – a figure further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic – there is much to be done to ensure sustainable access to medicines worldwide. Our Sustainability Report aims to continue establishing Viatris as a new kind of healthcare company, including furthering our global commitments as we seek to empower people worldwide to live healthier at every stage of life.
This timely new publication follows on from the adoption – for the first time - of a specific government commitment to noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) and HIV integration at the June 2021 United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) High-Level Meeting on AIDS. The report considers how the COVID-19 response and existing strategies for the integration of HIV services into primary health care can provide tangible options for the scale-up of NCD/HIV integration that responds to and meets the needs of people living with HIV and NCDs. This paves the way towards achieving the 90% target included in the June 2021 Political Declaration.
The NCD Alliance commissioned Equal International to develop this research report with support from Viatris. Viatris did not author the report; Viatris leaders provided context and input to help inform the report.
